Why you should attend the PPS conference after the IPPTA meeting!Tim
Private Practice Section, APTA
The Private Practice Section is one of 18 specialty sections within the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Its nearly 3,000 members own, operate, or work in a private practice setting.
The mission of PPS is to champion the success of the physical therapist in business. The Section just inaugurated a new three-year strategic plan on July 1. The plan rests on three equal pillars: Advocate, Educate, and Connect.
- Advocate: Promote an advantageous payment, regulatory, and business environment.
- Educate: Develop and deliver resources that promote business excellence.
- Connect: Facilitate a community for members to engage and connect.
The Section’s work is executed by its Board of Directors, a staff of four, and more than a dozen committees and task forces comprising nearly 100 volunteers.
In addition to operationalizing the new strategic plan, PPS is intently focused on its Annual Conference and Exhibition on November 7-10, 2018, in Colorado Springs, CO. The conference is something everyone looks forward to every year, and The Broadmoor hotel (which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year) is a particular favorite for PPS members.
In addition to offering 31 concurrent sessions of education, PPS will welcome two high-profile keynote speakers to the conference. Carey Lohrenz was the U.S Navy’s first female F-14 Fighter Pilot. She is highly sought-after as a business consultant and speaker who has traveled the world delivering her high-energy keynotes on leadership and developing a culture of learning. Her lessons in leadership include four fundamentals that helped her win in the cockpit and can help your team win in business: Be a Catalyst, Be Tenacious, Be Committed to Excellence, and Be Resilient.
Chris McChesney is the coauthor of #1 national best-seller, The Four Disciplines of Execution. The 4DX Methodology is a system that has been a driving force for change in Fortune 500 companies around the globe for more than a decade. McChesney’s engaging message is designed to help you narrow your focus and lay the groundwork required to accomplish your most important goals. In addition to his consultant work on the Four Disciplines of Execution, McChesney was the publicist for Stephen R. Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and he is currently the co-managing Director of Franklin Covey’s Southeast Region.
PPS is thrilled to be hosting the IPPTA meeting in the days preceding our conference and we encourage you to stay after your own meeting is over to learn with fellow private practitioners and enjoy the beauty of The Broadmoor.
